Their Lives Come With Us

My “becoming a therapist journey” this week:

Today I listened to the wisdom of Norna McInerny in her 2019 Ted Talk on grief. It is amazing to listen to her find humor while talking about loss. As a pastor, I’ve often sat beside people in their last moments, and families grieving loss. I imagine each person story as a votive candle, a light that holds the beauty of those we’ve lost, but also the love that continues to bring people ongoing warmth. As a future therapist I draw inspiration from Norna’s story and imagine how therapists can take journey’s of grief with clients. It’s definitely not about “moving on.” The life we share with people we lost, comes with us to our next chapter.
